About Us

The Anlaby Churches are at the heart of the 'Anlaby communities' - Anlaby, Anlaby Common, Anlaby Park and Rokeby Park. The congregations of St. Mark's, Anlaby Common and St. Peter's, Anlaby are united together under one vicar and leadership team, sharing resources and vision. Together: We are a Christ-centred community, existing to spread a passion for Jesus Christ in the Anlaby Communities and beyond.

We love our community in the Anlaby Communities, and the great city of Hull; and we long to see them fulfil their God-given potential. Moreover, we love Jesus, and the difference he has made to our lives, and we would love for others to discover that difference for themselves!

We are a Christian Church

We believe in one God who has revealed himself supremely through his Son, the Lord Jesus. We believe that Jesus is at the centre of human history; is God who created and sustains the universe and every person; who conquered death for all who believe in him; who reveals the source, heart and meaning of love; who meets us in our weakness; and who transforms lives by his Spirit today.

We are an Evangelical Church

We believe that the Bible is God’s word and is therefore our authority in all matters of faith and conduct. The foundational way God speaks to us today by his Spirit is through the Bible, and we seek to listen to and obey God’s voice each Sunday and in our midweek groups. By God's grace we also long to live out and share the wonderful message of salvation through Christ to all who are eager to hear. We are delighted to work closely with the Church of England Evangelical Council.

We are an Anglican Church

We stand in the tradition of the Anglican Reformers of the 16th Century, affirming with them the great truths which were rediscovered at the time of the Reformation. The teaching of the Church of England is founded on the 39 Articles of the Church of England. The Church Council has also adopted the CEEC Basis of Faith.

All people of any denomination and none are warmly welcome at St. Mark's and St. Peter's.

Why Church?

imageWe are a community of ordinary people who have found that Jesus Christ answers many of our questions, and is transforming our lives, and our community life, for the better. (For more see here).

You're very welcome to join us on our journey of discovery.
